Glam Cherry Glam

Ladies and gentleman, I will hereby be taking the rest of the week off of work in order to comb the streets on Manhattan searching for free ice cream.

In honor of their Poppy brand, handbag icon Coach has conspired with Van Leeuwen (one of the best in the ice cream biz) on a limited edition flavor called Glam Cherry.

The blend of tree-ripened Morello cherries with Michael Cluizel chocolate flakes (mmmmmm!) sounds nothing short of amazing. A Van Leeuwen truck tricked out with Poppy ads will giving out scoops of this heavenly concoction away for free this week at Coach stores!

Photo snapped by Christiane at DwellStudio who was lucky enough to spot a truck!  I’m not sure exactly how to track these babies down but you could start by checking out Van Leeuwen on Facebook or Twitter.

Gimmie!

I am a sucker for flags, crests, coats of arms and all other types of heraldry.  So obviously I am feeling the new Modern Crest collection by jewelry designer (and LGTM sponsor!) Alisha Louise.

Statement necklaces have been a bold choice for a while now and I think we’re all pretty  ready to swing the pendulum towards delicate jewelry again. I really love the way Alisha pares her pieces down to be simple, straightforward and elegant.

The necklaces are the right size and (at $95 a pop) the right price, to become your new favorite wear-all-the-time jewelry piece. The best part about Alisha’s jewelry is that you get to custom-pick your favorite color.

You could even try a layered look with a few different crests and colors which would look so good with this Fall’s military trend!

I’ve got my eye in particular on the Crossed Arrow Necklace in edgy black enamel. A little tough, a little sexy, no?

We had an amazing weekend! We dropped the car at the boatyard and sailed our way back to the beach house. From there on out our bodies relaxed, our minds were at ease, the clock all but stopped. It is amazing what a weekend out of the city can do for you. I hope you checked in with us on my new (and still very undesigned) Tumblr page Looks Good To Me – Live Feed.

I thought I would keep the dreamy weekend feel going with a few more images from my wedding inspiration folder which is collecting dust until we finally nail down a place to get hitched.

We both want to do it in New York and create an experience that speaks to everything we love about living here, featuring our favorites food purveyors, florists, graphic artists, etc. It has to be a special kind of place, and I know we’ll find it.

Happy Weekend!

We’re heading out for a little 3-day trip to the beach! Have a beautiful weekend everybody!

Either/Or

Now that we’re into July, I’ve started thinking about Fall transition shopping.

I want to buy pieces that I can wear now and keep wearing into September and October when temperatures start to cool off  (hallelujah!) and the Fall starts to settle in again.

One piece I am most coveting right now is the safari dress. I think it looks so cool and effortless without trying to be. I keep seeing good options everywhere and am having a hard time narrowing down which one I want.

Here are two picks, the silk army green is from my tried and true favorite J.Crew while the trendier khaki military-inspired is from UK line ASOS.

Which is your favorite? J.Crew silk fatigue (on sale now ps) or the one with all the bells and whistles (from Whistles via ASOS).

Tastes Good: Turkish Granola

Granola is one of my favorite foods and so easy to make!

I just made some to take to the beach this weekend.

Every time I make my granola, I like to change up the flavors to fit the season (or whatever is in the cupboard).

With apricots, dates and sesame seeds, I named this batch Turkish Granola. I am sharing my super-secret recipe with you below. I hope you like it!

Turkish Granola (adapted from The Candle Cafe Cookbook)

1 cup steel cut oats

1/2 cup rolled oats

1/4 cup slivered almonds

3/4 cup coarsely chopped walnuts

1/4 cup raw sunflower seeds

1 T. sesame seeds (toasted)

1/3 cup honey

1/4 cup oil

1 T. vanilla extract

1/4 t. sea salt

1/2 t. nutmeg

1/2 t. ground cloves

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Combine above ingredients in large bowl. Spread out on baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool. Transfer to a bowl and add 1/4 cup raisins, 1/4 cup dried apricots, 1/4 cup dried & pitted dates, 1/4 cup unsweetened shredded coconut.

Leifsdottir Fall 2010 Lookbook

It may be about a million degrees outside but when the girls at Leifsdottir sent over these images from their Fall lookbook, I just had to share them with you!

Andy and I went to Barcelona for our first vacation together and we both fell head over heels for the city. I am loving the flamenco-inspired looks in the collection. There is such a beautiful sense of drama and femininity with menswear elements mixed in.

Even though I’ll be sporting shorts in the heat today, in my mind I’ll be wearing red ruffles in Barcelona.

Here are some of my favorite looks from the collection.

Thanks to everyone for all of the links and great wishes on Andy’s and my engagement. All of your feedback has been wonderful.

I was particularly excited to see this post by Jennifer (via Apartment Therapy) on string lights.

I love lights like these and have so many great lighting ideas squirreled away in my wedding inspiration folder. Oddly enough, very few images of dresses but lights (and cakes) galore. Jennifer hit the nail on the head when she said I would be checking these out!

Finding the perfect wedding venue in New York is proving to be much harder than I thought. Sometimes when I start to get stressed, I have to take a step back and think about something fun and beautiful like a string of twinkling lights.

I especially love this photo (no idea where I found it) of a pair of newlyweds in front of an amazing sparkling curtain of light. I love how minimal and casual everything else feels too. I guess sometimes all you need is to shine a little light.

Sounds Good: Psychometry Vol. II

Hello! Sorry I’m posting so late today, I am getting a bit of a late start on everything today because I am on a mini-staycation (!!!) through the Fourth of July weekend. I plan on doing a lot of eating, drinking and lying in the park with my pup.

I’ll be be working too though, make no mistake. There are some changes to be made to the blog and of course, we’ve got some wedding planning-work to do. I really want to nail down a location and a date.  After that, it’s all about the fun stuff like flowers and favors and paper goods, yes!

I’ve already got my weekend soundtrack lined up though! Just in time for the holiday, Andy has put the next installment of his Psychometry podcast up on iTunes.

All I want to carry in the summer is a trusty tote bag.

Lately I’ve been tossing my leather handbags aside and combing through our stash of grocery store totes for the cleanest and coolest one to sling on my shoulder.

Perhaps it is best though to leave the grocery bags for toting groceries and to invest in a real summer tote.

I have always loved the Longchamp Pilage bag. I know it is one of the most ubiquitous bags around but I think that’s actually why I like it. We you go to Paris, all of the hip Parisian women are carrying these around from the hipster teens, to the sophisticated women and, well you know the rule: if it is good enough for a French woman…

But then I saw this bag from Want les Essentials de la Vie at Opening Ceremony. It has the same fabric and leather mix as the Longchamp and to cool sporty feature of being yellow in the front and navy at the back.

I like them both, I can’t decide.

What is your pick for the tote with the most?

The classique très chic Longchamp?

Or too cool for school OC bag?
