It’s  Long Story…

I think I might have mentioned that I am currently growing my hair out for the wedding.

As a self-professed “short-hair person” this is no easy feat.

The winter blah’s have officially set in and I am hankering for a change. Something fresh and new to switch up my look and I just don’t think a new tube of lipstick is going to cut it.

As my Twitter followers know, I recently joined Pintrest and am in love with the site. I’ve been making a pinboard filled with great hairstyles, many of which are serving as my motivation to keep my locks long (and not lop it all off into a bob as I want to do every other day).

Here is my hair pinboard, along with 2 great Tumblr feeds for people just like me who are trying to keep it long (here and here).

Ah, yes. The Jane Birkin has always been an inspiration to long- and short-hair people alike (I have gotten the “Melodie Nelson” haircut). You’ll succeed, my dear…you always do!! xox

I am having a similar struggle, but with my bangs. I wonder if a Pinboard of people looking really dumb with my current hairstyle would be more inspiring than one of them looking fabulous in the long-banged style I aspire to?

    a) i’m obsessed with pinterest! (and just followed you) isn’t it amazing?! and b) i also grew my long bob into a mid-back tangle of fine and volume-less locks for my wedding. it was worth every penny to see it all go up into my low chignon, but i tell ya – it almost killed me! i couldn’t get it chopped fast enough after the big day. i think the key is lots of ponytails :) good luck!

Whatever you do, use a pretty hair accessory from Anthro’s new bridal line!!! BHLDN….OMG, I’m obsessed and sad that I’m already married :)

Have you thought about trying some good quality extensions for a bit. They change will keep you from hacking away your growing locks. And, the beautifully long lengths will give you more motivation to hold out & continue to grow your own!

Stick with it girl! I had short hair for a few years and then decided that it was time for a change. In the beginning it was a complete torture. I was itching to chop it all off. What helped me was going for regular cuts – my hair stylist adjusted the shape without taking off the length. Now I finally have long-ish hair that I enjoy. I even went to Aveda today to pick up some products for styling.
I do intend on chopping it all off again once my hair is proper length for a donation.
