Up Your Skirts!

I’m back! I am so excited to tell you about all about Milan but today I’d like to pay tribute to my grandmother who passed away while I was in Italy.

She was a true example of the modern woman, holding many different careers (including air traffic controller, meteorologist and librarian), traveling the world and entertaining like no other. She had a magnetic personality and irresistible energy and made certain that wherever she was, a good time was sure to be had.

One of her favorite refrains when toasting at any occasion, she would say “up your skirts!” and take a slug.

Grandma we miss you already. All of my love, Caroline.

Here is a photo of my grandparents dressed up as F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald for a costume party. Don’t they look amazing?

Blogging will be light again this week as I will be out of town for the funeral. See you soon though I promise! xoxo

Packing List: Milan

Yep, you read that right! Today I am heading to Milan for a work-trip and I’m so excited.

I’ve visited Italy before but I’ve never been to Milan. I anticipate learning a lot, being very inspired and very full most of the time (I have a bit of a weakness for homemade pasta). Other than that, I don’t know what to expect.

That said, I am packing lots of neutrals pieces that I can mix and layer, lots of black too of course for this fashionable town.

I’ll be wearing my new Madewell blazer with a pair of cuffed pants, booties or flats, my Coach Kristin Crossbody and Virginia Johnson Shark Scarf for a pop of color.

Even though I’ll be busy with work most of the time, I’ve got the Design*Sponge Milan Guide in my bag and am excited to see where the city leads me. I’d love to know any of your favorite spots for food, shopping, coffee or gelato!

I’ll try and stay in touch with Tweets and Tumblr while I’m away too.

See you next week, until then Ciao!

Spoken Like a True New Yorker

Well he-llo! I’m so sorry I completely disappeared last week! I feel like the lamest fashion blogger ever.

Fashion week was very very busy and most of it was spent working instead of taking in the glamour so I thought it best to spare you the gory details.

There were some high points including seeing ADR on the street!!! (you know how much I love her) and my first opportunity to sit backstage through a fashion show.

It was great but, am I glad it’s over? You bet.

While vegging out this weekend and catching up on my magazines, I came across this quote from Particia Clarkson in New York. It is one of those only-in-New York kind of sentiments and I thought it was the perfect way to say so long to another week of fashion and glamour in the big city.

Blogging will be spotty (or nonexistent) again this week because I have to skip town for a little work trip. I promise to keep everyone in the loop via Tumblr and try to be good about posting before I go.

A Piece of Cake

I love this re-staging of one of my favorite Wayne Thiebaud paintings in the Fall issue of Martha Stewart Weddings!

Don’t you want to eat them all?

Sorry posting has been so light. It’s been a busy lead up to fashion week. I promise to be back soon with lots of great stuff for Fall! xoxo

LGTM ♥ Weddings!

Remember these fine folks and their amazing Philadelphia mural engagement shoot?

I am thrilled to announce that Kat & Ben finally tied the knot in upstate New York with an amazing outdoor ceremony in the woods.

Please click over to the Love Me Do website for the rest of the photos. Check out the LGTM Live Feed today for a few snaps from a wedding inspiration stop off I made this morning as well!

Congratulations Kat & Ben!

What Should Fifi Wear Today?

Hi everybody! I’m sorry I don’t have a more organized post for today. The move was long and exhausting but overall, really really good!

Last night, after unpacking about a million boxes and assembling soso much Ikea furniture, I finally started to feel like we were at home at last.

I’ll be back tomorrow but in the meantime I wanted to share this adorable illustration from the What Should Fifi Wear Today contest over at one of my favorite blogs Fifi Lapin!

Isn’t this look just to DIE for!? It is definitely getting my vote! So many cute pieces to choose from, Fifi could wear about a million great ensembles from this look!

Take a peek at the contestants and place your vote right here! (I think you know who is getting my vote: B, B, Beeeeee!)

Out With The Old, In With The New

It’s moving day!

Today we are leaving the old apartment behind. We moved in as a young couple excited to see if we could make it work and are leaving as two happy people who have decided to spend our lives together. No small thing if you ask me.

The new space we are moving into will truly mark the beginning of us building our life together. I can’t wait!

And–knowing me–of course I have been dreaming of how to furnish it…

Since I really should be finishing my packing instead of blogging I am going to share my wishlist for the new pad with you and then throw some more things into boxes.

After all of the essentials are taken care of (shelving, bed frame, etc.), these are the pieces I’ve got my eye on to really give the space some flair and showcase our modern style & eye for design!

1.) Alessi Red Wine Glass

2.) Loop Stand Hall Coatrack by Hay

3.) Ladies & Gentlemen Superior Servers (via Unruly Things)

4.) Harry Allen Bank in the Form of a Pig (via Areaware)

5.) Pendelton Glacier National Park Blanket

What do you say, is it going to be great?

I certainly think so!

Gimmie!

I was so excited to contribute one of my must-have picks for Fall over on Pretty Mommy this week while Michelle is on vacation!

Michelle and I have collaborated in the past and she’s got a great eye for style. Of course I wasn’t surprised when I sent over these gorgeous Loeffler Randall booties (that I was drooling over) and she said she had been eyeing them too!

Imagining these on my feet, I rounded out the look with some great accessories from Michelle’s shop. I’d buy it all if I could (but I can’t). Gimmie gimmie gimmie gimmie!

Clockwise from top left: Loeffler Randall Mesh Lace Up Bootie (via Saks); Nomadic Trading Co Indigo Shawl; Fleabags Original Flea in Black; Laura Lombardi 24K Gold Dipped Crystal Necklace ( all via the Pretty Mommy Shop).

And, check out my Pretty Mommy blog post right here!
