Packing List: The Bachelorette (Hint, hint! It’s me!)

Hello long lost friends! I’m back (sort of) to share with you my packing list for the weekend ahead.

I am being kidnapped and swept away to secret location (my guess is upstate New York) for a weekend with girlfriends that promises to be full of laughter, summer style, great food and other surprises! I’m so excited I can hardly stand it.

The problem is, it is tough to pack for a weekend that you know just this about: 1.) It will be hot  2.) You need a bathing suit and 3.) It is very possible you will be made to wear embarrassing accessories all weekend long. (Whatever will I wear with my candy bra?)

I asked a friend for some packing tips and she told me to bring: roller skates (?), my golf clubs (I don’t have any), scuba gear (we better not be doing any scuba in the Hudson) and a helmet (?!$#*?!!!).

So, given that I am completely clueless, I’m keeping things very simple & summer. Swimsuits, cover-ups, flip-flops, tank tops & cut-offs, my trusty straw hat (for whenever I am not wearing my helmet I guess) and, the wherewithal to embrace whatever it is they have in store for me. I’ll try to keep in touch via Tumblr (so long as it isn’t too embarrassing). Wish me luck!

Packing List: Summer Art Shows

How cool is this?! It’s an illustrated packing list by artist Adolf Conrad from 1963 currently featured in the Morgan Library show: Illustrated Inventories, Collected Thoughts and Other Artist’s Enumerations on view now through October 2. (via The Moment)

Does it remind you of anything from LGTM??

I love how he illustrated the individual socks and all of his paintbrushes and pens!

I am also super excited to see the Storm King installation of sculptures by Mark DiSuvero at Govorner’s Island this summer. And of course, the McQueen show at The Met!

What about you, what summer art shows are you excited to see?

Packing List: LGTM + Rugby

In honor of the first official weekend of summer (how many barbecues are you going to?) LGTM teamed up with Rugby to illustrate my dream packing list for my Memorial Day staycation in NYC featuring my favorite pieces from the Rugby’s Summer collection.

One look at my picks and I think you’ll agree, Rugby is outfitted to a tee with some seriously cute pieces for summer. I am drooling over all of it. My favorite part is how all of the items mix and match so well with each other because summertime is all about looking good without working on it too much, am I right?

You can see my full post and my comments on the items I picked over on the Rugby blog today!

What are your plans for Memorial Day Weekend? I’m having a snazzy staycation with my parents who are visiting NYC for the weekend! I plan to get back into Tumbling and keep you all in the loop on our adventures via the LGTM Live Feed.

Have a great holiday weekend everybody! XOXO

Packing List: Weekend in Michigan

Happy Friday everyone!

This weekend I am making a quick solo trip home to see my parents and do a little shopping with my mother for her Mother of the Bride outfit. As an added bonus I am also going to get to see an old friend and her ah-dorable son.

Home has always been such a source of comfort for me and so packing for the weekend was a snap. I threw in all of my favorite basics like my skinny jeans (cropped Audrey-style for Spring!), a nubby sweatshirt tee, some kick-around-the-house cargos, my workout gear & new Nikes (now on sale!), something stripey and of course, a great book.

Have a great weekend everybody, see you on Monday!

Packing List: Mexico

Mexico was amazing! It’s hard to believe we almost didn’t make it there.

You may have noticed that I neglected to put up my traditional packing list before we left. The reason for that was because Andy and I spent the night before our departure turning over every couch cushion & rifling through every pocket, bag & box in the apartment looking for my passport.

It didn’t turn up and I dragged myself to work the next morning sniffling behind my sunglasses thinking I had ruined our trip. But lo and behold, Andy found it just in time (in my computer case of all places), we made it on the trip and had a fabulous time!

Here is what I packed in my suitcase. I scrounged around until I found some brightly colored accessories to offset my neutral clothing palette. My neon belt and colorful wedges were the perfect foil for a pair of black high-waisted shorts and my new favorite jumpsuit.

For the beach I paired some awesome round shades with an oversized denim shirt with rolled-up sleeves and my favorite little bikini. I toted last summer’s J.Crew gladiators (these might be a good update for this year) and a vintage kisslock clutch for sprucing things up a bit.

We’ve got so much to catch up on, Paris Fashion Week, John Galliano & Dior, long skirts, printed pants, and maybe (just maybe!) the first hint of Spring in the air out there! Feels good to be back.

Packing List: Richmond

Andy has been working off and on at an agency down in Richmond, VA and this weekend I am going down to see him and check out the town.

I’ve never been to Richmond and have limited experience with the South. (My trip to Atlanta was my first and I learned that if there is one thing I like about the South, it is the food.)

I am excited to see Richmond and get a feel for the town. I especially want to check out the brick and mortar location of awesome e-commerce site Need Supply and check out the food at restaurant Comfort (fried green tomatoes please!).

I am packing my new favorite t-shirt dress from A.L.C., my new favorite boots, some nubby, slouchy socks (that look so good with said favorite boots), a pair of jeans, a cozy cardigan sweater--now on super sale, damn!–from Madewell and my current accessory of choice: my leopard print belt (just try and find something I won’t wear it with, just try it…)

I am also bringing a suit and tie for Andy as well as some fancy duds for myself since we are invited to a little cocktail party down there.

Anyone out there have any can’t miss Richmond recommendations? Lay ‘em on me!

Have a good weekend everybody, see you on Monday!

Packing List: Christmas in Michigan!

Let the holidays begin! We are heading to Michigan once again to celebrate with my family.

One thing is for certain, Michigan will be colder than NYC. (I can’t even imagine!) So I have to pack smart in order to cram warm layers, clothes for dressing up and all of my gifts into one (maybe two) bags.

I am definitely bringing my big cocoon coat. It’s warm and cozy and I can fit a warm sweater under it, like this onenow on super duper sale–from Vince. For the holiday parties I’ll be wearing my velvet (you know how I love velvet) party dress from Dona Monroe. And of course, you know I’ll be wearing my favorite hat!

Since the holidays are all about being equal parts comfy and festive, I am sticking to mostly grey and black pieces with a few pops of fun color to keep things lively.

(And I won’t forget a bit of red and green either)

I won’t be posting while I am away but I wish you all a lovely holiday and hope wherever you are it is somewhere warm and bright!

PS – I will be keeping up with Tumblr while I’m away and I promise to let you know how the Bûche turns out too!

LGTM x Rugby: Holiday Style

Since we are on the subject of holiday style, I am so excited to share with you my guest post over on the Rugby blog today!

When the girls at Rugby asked me to illustrate my holiday picks from their line, I jumped right on board.

Rugby’s holiday collection is every bit as preppy and cool as the rest of the line. Everything from gorgeous velvet (I just love velvet!) to holiday plaid that’s sexy and fun.

Pair a plaid dress with a shearling vest,  this tuxedo shirt with velvet tap pants, or fishnets with an-ny-thing at all, Rugby has enough holiday goodness to see you through the whole season!

Click on over to the Rubgy blog for the full post with my complete list of picks, outfitting ideas and more!

And tell me your favorite Rugby holiday look is too!

Packing List: Milan

Yep, you read that right! Today I am heading to Milan for a work-trip and I’m so excited.

I’ve visited Italy before but I’ve never been to Milan. I anticipate learning a lot, being very inspired and very full most of the time (I have a bit of a weakness for homemade pasta). Other than that, I don’t know what to expect.

That said, I am packing lots of neutrals pieces that I can mix and layer, lots of black too of course for this fashionable town.

I’ll be wearing my new Madewell blazer with a pair of cuffed pants, booties or flats, my Coach Kristin Crossbody and Virginia Johnson Shark Scarf for a pop of color.

Even though I’ll be busy with work most of the time, I’ve got the Design*Sponge Milan Guide in my bag and am excited to see where the city leads me. I’d love to know any of your favorite spots for food, shopping, coffee or gelato!

I’ll try and stay in touch with Tweets and Tumblr while I’m away too.

See you next week, until then Ciao!

Lake Michigan Packing List

The one thing about summer in the city is that it gets away from you and fast.

Some people find time to make it to the beach or take regular weekends out of town but not me. Somehow I always end us sweating it out, right in the thick of things and letting summer whiz by me without so much as a pina colada or the feeling of sand between my toes.

But don’t worry about me ladies and gentlemen because as of Thursday I will be on vay-cay-tion! Andy, my sister, Marlow and I are packing up and joining my parents at a house they’ve rented up on Lake Michigan.

We’re going to cook, we’re going to kayack, we’re going to swim, we’re going to climb up sand dunes and drink root beer floats. It’s total Americana summer fun and I’m so excited.

I’ve had my packing list drafted for a week but this is not the kind of trip where you dress to impress.

My suitcase will be filled with soft flannel shirts, rumpled tees (striped of course), destroyed khaki shorts, white jeans, summer sandals, my straw hat and last but not least, bathing suit.

My goals for the trip include reading The Girl Who Played With Fire and hashing through wedding inspiration ideas with Andy. We our big move slated for the end of the month, this trip is going to be exactly what we need to recharge for the Fall.
