J’ADR!

I have been meaning to put these pics of Anna Dello Russo up for a while now. I’ve already mentioned (once or twice) how much I idolize the woman…

I especially love seeing her in these dueling Dolce & Gabbana looks from their Spring/Summer 2010 collection.

With her killer body and even more cut style. ADR is a constant reminder of what makes fashion well, fashion.

Fashion Crush: Caycee Black

I am completely smitten with Summer collection from New York designer Caycee Black.

The clothing drapes around the body with a dancer’s sensibility of soft folds and fluid shapes. Graphic, hand-painted prints play against a palette of coral, mint and navy for a graceful summer look just waiting to be swept off of its feet.

Feminine and fresh, Black’s clothing begs to be treated to a cocktail on a city rooftop or lost in the woods during a summer romp.

I really love this mix print dress, don’t you?

Caycee Black’s collection can be purchased at Duo in NYC and Tootsies in Texas and Georgia. Check out this recent write-up of the designer in New York Magazine.

Fashion Crush: Sonia Rykiel

How can you not love Sonia Rykiel?

She creates sexy clothes for sexy women who know how to have fun. Quite the sexy woman herself, Rykiel’s signature look has inspired a thousand portraits. After Coco she is the only one to have added her own twist on the idea of the modern French woman.

Oh yeah, and she practically invented stripes. What more do you need ?

Fashion Crush: Anna Dello Russo

I have had a blossoming crush on Vogue Nippon’s Fashion Director Anna Dello Russo since I started noticing her vibrant and totally posh style on The Sartorialist about a year or so ago.

Anna is a true force of fashion, she is notorious for wearing looks plucked straight from the runway down to the very last piece.

This is both an incredible tribute to the designers and stylists who conceive of the collections and also a measure of her wide reserves of self confidence. (Pulling off some of that stuff takes major courage.) She says:

“I like to take the dream and put it on me.”

If we could Anna, we would too.

But since we can’t, you’re the woman for the job.

As if you needed any more reason to have a raging fashion crush on this woman, she lives in Japan for crying out loud and does yoga in heels! (Thanks Marisa for the tip!) Plus, the woman actually smiles for photographs which is a rarity in the fashion world. I guess if I looked as good as she does all the time, I’d be grinning too.

Fashion Crush: Siegerson Morrison

I love that in New York you never quite know who is standing right next to you.

Sure it could be a crazy person but it just as likely could be a Nobel Prize winner or supermodel or the first boy you kissed in the sixth grade.

This weekend I happened upon a Sigerson Morrison warehouse sale in the neighborhood.

Amid the hubub I struck up a conversation with a woman and I eventually realized she wasn’t just a fellow shopper, she was Sigerson herself!! Both she and Morrison were in the shop working their own warehouse sale.

I was a little awestruck. These successful, cool women with an established shoe line that people (like me) covet are in fact, amazingly friendly, sweet, affable people. It is always a great thing when you find out that the creators behind a line you adore are actually as likeable at the products they make.

These are some of my favorite styles from Sigerson Morrison’s Resort 2010 collection. All are available on their website.
